Freshman Javelin Thrower Qualifies for NAIA Nationals

This past weekend Haskell's Track & Field programs participated in the University of Central Missouri's Mule Relays. With this being their second meet in the outdoor season Haskell has been taking smaller steps to victory by garnering individual goals as they rebuild their program to a national title team as Haskell previously had. In their efforts thus far there have been multiple student athletes that have claimed personal records in their running and field events. Impressively, freshman javelin thrower, Amaya Bonilla-Harris has made her way to the top by hitting the NAIA National Qualifying Standard for Javelin this past Friday. Throwing a 39.34m, which translates to 129'.1", Bonilla-Harris has reintroduced Haskell Track & Field to NAIA Nationals.

Prior to her arrival to Haskell Indian Nations University, Bonilla-Harris had claimed a national rank in her high school career at Lawrence High School in Lawrence, KS, as well as making an appearance in the Junior Olympics for Javelin; not to mention she was heavily recruited by various Division 1 institutions across the United States. Ultimately she chose Haskell Indian Nations University which has been quite the eventful season thus far in her accomplishments!
