Department of Athletics

A member institution since the fall of 1999, Haskell Indian Nations University currently serves as the only four year intercollegiate athletic program in the nation whereby all scholar-athletes represent diverse American Indian and Alaska Native nations.

The Athletic Department includes athletic administration and athletic training personnel, as well as academic instructors in the following programs: Health, Sport, and Exercise Science. The department also includes student volunteers who provide a valuable service and enrichment to Haskell Athletics. 

Haskell Indian Nations University currently holds the following athletic programs:

  1. Women’s Volleyball
  2. Women’s Cross Country
  3. Men’s Cross Country
  4. Women’s Basketball
  5. Men’s Basketball
  6. Women’s Track & Field
  7. Men’s Track & Field
  8. Softball
  9. Men’s Golf

The athletic department serves as the main point of contact for all student athletes on campus and is dedicated in cultivating the following objectives:

  • Leadership
  • Character development
  • Positive intercollegiate athletics experience
  • Mental & physical performance development.

Holding our athletes to this standard not only improves their athletic performance and success but prepares them for life after athletics. Additionally our department implements the NAIA Champions of Character initiative which creates an environment in which all affiliates of collegiate athletics are committed to the true spirit of competition. With the development of such programs and objectives our athletes will encompass our ideals and demonstrate a positive representation of Native American communities throughout the United States.
