SALINA, Kan. – Haskell volleyball hit the court for two matches on Saturday at the Mabee Arena, facing Evangel University and Kansas Wesleyan. Despite strong stretches, Haskell dropped both contests in straight sets.
Match 1: Evangel 3, Haskell 0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-18)
Haskell came out competitive against Evangel, nearly taking the opening set before falling 25-22. The Indians totaled 21 kills in the match, led by Mya Dalgai with 5 and Kayelani Maiava with 4. Maiava also chipped in 5 digs and 2 aces, while Alaina Dugi anchored the back row with 8 digs. Setter Jaspen Ellenwood handed out 7 assists, and Hailey Kelseyadded 4 kills and a block.
Match 2: Kansas Wesleyan 3, Haskell 0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-16)
In their second match of the day, Haskell saw bright performances despite the sweep. Dugi was a defensive standout with a match-high 20 digs. Dalgai put together an efficient outing with 6 kills on .429 hitting, while Maiava contributed another 6 kills and 8 digs. Ellenwood paced the offense with 14 assists, and Katelynn Singer added 6 assists and an ace.
Team Notes
Across the two matches, Haskell showed flashes of offensive balance and resilience. Dalgai finished with 11 total kills on the day, while Maiava added 10. Dugi collected 28 digs across both contests, giving Haskell consistency in the back row.
The Indians will look to build on their defensive effort and balanced scoring as they continue their fall schedule.
