Haskell Battles Through Tri Against Peru State College and St. Mary
Haskell volleyball faced a challenging doubleheader on Wednesday, first going the distance in a five-set battle with Peru College before falling in straight sets to Saint Mary later in the afternoon.
In the opening match against Peru College, Haskell came out strong, taking the first set 27–25. After dropping the second and third, the team responded with a gritty 27–25 win in the fourth to force a decisive fifth set. The comeback effort came up short, however, as Peru closed the match with a 15–5 final frame.
Haskell's attack was paced by Tressa Jim, who delivered a match-high 23 kills while adding 13 digs and three aces. Alaina Dugi anchored the defense with 28 digs, while Darrilyn Tessay and Katelynn Singer combined for 48 assists to run the offense. At the net, Aniah Smith and Hailey Kelsey contributed key blocks, helping the team record six total. Despite the loss, Haskell tallied 58 kills as a group and showed resilience in pushing the match to five sets.
In the second contest of the day, Haskell ran into a well-balanced Saint Mary squad, dropping the match in three sets (13–25, 21–25, 8–25). The offense couldn't find its rhythm, finishing with 18 kills on the match. Alaina Dugi once again led the defense with 15 digs, while Tressa Jim chipped in 11 more. Hailey Kelsey provided steady play at the net with four kills and two block assists, while Mya Dalgai added six kills.
