Central Christian Defeats Haskell

Haskell faced tough losses to Central Christian College in their double header today on their home field.

Central Christian took the lead in game one from an early start earning two runs in the first inning, off of an RBI from Hall with Adams scoring and an RBI by Powers with Hall scoring. With a lull for three and a half innings for both teams, Haskell was unable to obtain any runs and stop the Tigers from increasing their score in the top of the fourth. The Tigers managed to claim three more runs with Morton, Vines and Parrott scoring, the Fightin Indians unable to score in the same inning yet again. Powers seemingly had a good game, scoring not only a run in the first inning but a homerun in the top of the fifth.

Haskell managed to claim some runs with Chischilly hitting a double, claiming two RBI's and sending Elkshoulder and Turner home. Fighitn' Indians suffered a fielders choice out by Sierra jones on second but still a successful hit by Chischilly.

With the score at 6-2 in favor of the Tigers at the top of the 7th, Barrera and Adams managed to score yet again while Haskell only managed to increase their score by two with Pretty on Top and Goodman scoring to end the game 8-4.

Game two began with a similar feat for the Tigers as they lead the Fightin' Indians 7-0 by the top of the 4th, but Haskell wasn't done fighting. After runs scored by Adams(1 Earned,1 HR), Barrera (1 Earned,1 HR) , Hall (HR), Powers (HR) and Holt, it was time for Haskell to claim some runs of their own. With an RBI by Pretty on Top and Jones scoring as well as Butterfield claiming a homerun and sending Pretty on Top home, Haskell managed to score three runs, brining them back in the game.

Neither team allowed runs in the 5th inning, making pitching and fielding efforts successful for both teams. But by the top of the 6th Morton and Adams earned two runs brining the score 9-3. Haskell maintained their fight and claimed three more runs off of a homerun to left field by Senior, Velma Turner, brining Reich and Butterfield home.

By the 7th inning Haskell was fired up after the homerun by their sole senior, Turner, and did not allow Central Christian to score in their final inning. This energy carried them into the bottom of the seventh where they scored two runs by Elkshoulder and Jones off of two separate RBI's. But unfortunately this was not enough to tie the score as Haskell made an untimely strikeout by Reich with two bases on the field at first and second bringing the Fightin' Indians to two outs. With Velma Turner up to bat, Haskell was hoping for another homer by the senior but a pop up to center field would end the game at their thrid and final out. Final score 9-8 Central Christian College.

Haskell is back on the road March 30th to Missouri Valley College for a double header at 1:00pm.
